Description:

Furnace Operator III Duties:

  • Operate all three types of furnaces including coating, vacuum and CVD furnace.
  • Load and unload furnaces, read and check furnace charts.
  • Pack and unpack parts in retorts.
  • Understand where coating samples are placed in coating runs.
  • Dry hone components.
  • Complete log books thoroughly and properly.
  • Change thermocouples.
  • Sift and blend powders to make up new powder.
  • TUS and SAT set up and monitoring.
  • Provide coating samples to Metallurgy lab with accurate information listed.
  • Obtain coating cycles from the metallurgy lab.
  • Documenting travelers after operations have been performed.
  • Follow lean manufacturing principles.
  • Maintain and improve 5-S principles. Focal point/lead for 5-S activities in furnace area.
  • Mentor/trainer on furnaces operations for new employees.
  • Maintain production standards/quality.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Adhere to and promote Corporate Code of Ethical Standards.
  • Ensures compliance with Company IPM/QPM and ISO quality requirements.
  • Adhere to all Company safety requirements and standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Vacuum up coating powder from behind sifters and V-blenders as needed.
  • Assist in surveying when needed.

  • Lean skills continually drives process improvements
  • Team building skills

  • Must be fluent in English, i.e. speaking, reading, writing

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to pass various tests including annual furnace exams
  • Must perform duties correctly and meet performance standards within the first six (6) months of position
  • Must be able to become certified on two furnace operations within the first six (6) months of position
  • Vacuum/CVD Furnace Operator Certifications required
