Controller – Startup Technology Company (Remote/Scottsdale, AZ)

We are seeking a hands-on Controller to build and oversee our accounting operations. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys working in a startup environment and wants to play a key role in building the financial foundation of a growing company. This position reports directly to the CFO and will have significant ownership over accounting operations, financial reporting, cash management, and process improvement. Position Summary: The Controller will oversee all day-to-day accounting functions, ensure accurate financial reporting, manage accounts receivable and collections, coordinate tax preparation, and develop scalable accounting processes to support company growth. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, technologically savvy, and comfortable wearing multiple hats in a dynamic startup environment. Responsibilities: Accounting Operations Own monthly accounting close process Maintain accurate general ledger and financial records Oversee bookkeeping operations and accounting systems Develop and improve accounting processes, controls, and workflows Ensure accuracy of financial transactions and reporting Accounts Receivable & Collections Manage customer invoicing process Track outstanding receivables Lead collections efforts and improve cash flow visibility Partner with operations and customer-facing teams regarding billing matters Financial Reporting Prepare monthly financial statements and reporting packages for CFO Provide analysis of revenue, expenses, cash flow, and financial trends Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning Develop key financial metrics and dashboards Tax & Compliance Coordinate annual tax preparation with external CPA/tax professionals Maintain required financial documentation Support compliance requirements and audits as needed Strategic Finance Support Partner with CFO and leadership team on financial decisions Help scale financial infrastructure as the company grows Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, automation, and reporting Qualifications: Required: 5+ years of progressive accounting experience Experience managing full-cycle accounting Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting principles Experience preparing financial statements and monthly reporting Advanced proficiency with accounting software and Excel/Google Sheets Strong organizational and analytical skills Preferred: CPA or CPA-track preferred Startup or high-growth company experience SaaS, technology, or subscription business experience Experience implementing accounting systems and processes Experience working with outside tax advisors and CFOs What We Offer: Competitive salary: $90, 000$120, 000 annually Performance bonus opportunity Equity participation opportunity Flexible remote work environment Opportunity to build the financial foundation of a growing technology company Direct partnership with executive leadership Location: Scottsdale, AZ preferred; remote candidates considered Employment Type: Full-time
