BLS Labs, LLC is hiring a Facilities Technician in Mesa, AZ. This is a full-time position.

Position Summary The Facilities Technician supports the maintenance, repair, and general upkeep of the building's physical structure, equipment, and systems, including work in the ISO Class 7 cleanroom. Working under the direction of the Facilities Maintenance and Compliance Manager, this entry-level role completes routine preventive maintenance, basic troubleshooting, work orders, and facility support tasks to help maintain a safe, clean, and efficient workplace. Essential Functions Maintenance & Repairs: Assist with routine maintenance and basic repairs involving lighting, plumbing fixtures, doors, hardware, equipment, and other facility systems. Escalate complex or specialized repairs as needed. Preventive Maintenance: Complete assigned preventive maintenance tasks and routine inspections using established checklists and schedules. Work Orders: Respond to assigned work orders, document work performed, and communicate status or additional support needs to the manager. Building Systems Monitoring: Perform basic visual checks of building systems, alarms, and fire suppression equipment, and promptly report irregularities. Vendor Support: Provide onsite support to approved vendors and contractors by coordinating access, sharing relevant information, and communicating service updates to the manager. Safety Compliance: Follow established safety procedures, building requirements, and environmental guidelines. Report hazards, incidents, or compliance concerns promptly. Troubleshooting: Identify common facility issues, complete basic troubleshooting, and escalate problems that require advanced technical expertise or licensed service providers. Inventory Management: Maintain organized tools, supplies, and equipment; track usage and notify the manager when replenishment is needed Facility Upkeep: Support cleaning, landscaping, furniture moves, room setups, and general building upkeep to maintain a professional and orderly workplace. Emergency Response: Assist with urgent facility needs and emergency repairs, including occasional after-hours support as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Education: High school diploma or equivalent requiredCoursework or a technical certification in facilities maintenance, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or a related trade preferred. Experience: 2-4 years of experience in facilities maintenance, building operations, or a related field Certifications: Forklift certification on both standup and standard sit-down units preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Basic knowledge of facility maintenance practices, common building systems, and the safe use of hand and power tools. Ability to perform routine preventive maintenance and basic repairs using established procedures and checklists. Ability to recognize common facility issues, complete basic troubleshooting, and escalate complex or hazardous conditions appropriately. Ability to read and follow work orders, safety instructions, equipment manuals, and preventive maintenance schedules. Basic computer skills, including email, work order systems, and routine documentation. Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage assigned tasks and changing priorities. Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with employees, vendors, and contractors. Ability to work independently on assigned tasks while seeking direction when needed Physical Requirements Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and frequently bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and climb stairs or ladders. Ability to use hands and fingers to operate tools, equipment, computers, and other maintenance-related devices. Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments and tolerate occasional exposure to heat, cold, dust, noise, odors, and other conditions associated with facility maintenance. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment and safely perform work in mechanical rooms, storage areas, and other facility spaces. Ability to visually inspect equipment and work areas and communicate effectively regarding safety, maintenance, and operational concerns. Ability to respond to occasional urgent facility needs outside regular business hours, as assigned. Work Environment Employees in this role may encounter a range of workplace hazards across environmental, activity-related, and ergonomic categories. Environmental hazards include spill potential, exposure to extreme heat or cold, and an increased risk of slip, trip, and fall incidents. Activity-related hazardsmay involve working around electrical cords and tools, energized equipment, and potential burn or heat sources, all of which can pose safety risks if not properly managed. Ergonomic hazards are also significant, including lifting, awkward postures, repetitive motions, and prolonged periods of both sitting and standing. Daily job functions can contribute to these risksfor example, extended time at a workstation may lead to back, shoulder, hand, arm injuries, and eye strain, while prolonged standing can result in strains, sprains, and leg or knee discomfort. Walking throughout the building presents additional risks of slips, trips, falls, and strain injuries, particularly in cluttered or wet areas. Employees who handle maintenance equipment or perform heavy lifting may also face hazards such as equipment-related injuries, lifting loads over 50 pounds, and general strain risks. Overall, these hazards highlight the importance of maintaining awareness and following safe work practices to minimize the potential for injury.
