Job Description

Arizona Christian University is hiring a Head Coach - Pickleball (PT) in Glendale, AZ. This is a full-time position.

General Job Brief: Leadership and development of the Pickleball program including day-to-day operations, recruitment, training, and scheduling. This role also requires a comprehensive understanding of and commitment to the unique Christian mission and vision of ACU to Transform Culture with Truth, and the ability to advance that mission and vision through the performance of its duties, including person-to-person mentorship and discipleship. Duties and Responsibilities; Foster a team culture consistent with ACUs Christian mission and commitment to faith, relationships, and excellence. Recruit and retain student-athletes for the pickleball programs. Plan and lead team training and competitions. Coordinate schedules, travel, facilities, and other basic program operations in collaboration with the Athletics Department. Maintain positive relationships with community partners and off-campus practice and competition facilities. Monitor student-athlete eligibility, academic progress, conduct, and overall well-being. Mentor student-athletes and support their personal and spiritual development. Assist with program promotion and fundraising efforts as appropriate. Comply with University, Athletics Department, and applicable governing-body policies. Perform other related duties as assigned. Other Duties and Responsibilities: Completing other duties and tasks with utmost integrity and professionalism, as directed and not necessarily mentioned in this description, will be expected. Commitment to the Universitys faith statement, mission, and purposes; and an active Christian faith. Comfort and familiarity with the practice of praying with and for others, including students, faculty, and fellow University staff. The ability to meaningfully support and encourage students, faculty, and staff from a biblical worldview perspective, using relevant and applicable references from the Old and New Testaments and orthodox Christian writings. Demonstrated alignment with and enthusiastic support for the Christian Mission and Core Commitments of the University, including signing the University's Statement of Faith and Core Commitments annually. Education and Experience: Bachelors degree (masters preferred). Playing or coaching experience and full understanding of the growing sport. Demonstrated connection to the Christian Mission and Core Commitments of the University. Working Conditions: General pickleball environment. Office hours to accomplish administrative tasks. Meeting with student athletes as needed. Travel to competition and recruitment as needed. Regular home event schedule for club teams Time Required: Standard college pickleball calendar for in-season and out-of-season. Year-round recruitment and communication expectations. Club seasons for fall, winter and spring include various nights and weekend events. Fair Labor Standards Act: This position is considered to be part-time, exempt from overtime pay provisions as provided by the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and any applicable state laws.
