Adjunct Instructor - Behavioral Studies and Psychology

General Job Brief Instructor will teach courses in Psychology. Instructors are responsible for preparation and delivery of all course materials including the syllabus, lecture and other course delivery preparation, and keeping attendance records. This role also requires a comprehensive understanding of and commitment to the unique Christian mission and vision of ACU to Transform Culture with Truth, and the ability to advance that mission and vision through the performance of its duties, including person-to-person mentorship and discipleship. Duties, Tasks, Responsibilities Supervision and instruction of students in classroom and/or lab settingsDevelopment of written syllabi and required course materialsEvaluation of subject matter taught and maintenance of student recordsPreparation and grading of examsMaintaining office hours to advise and assist studentsParticipation in departmental and university-wide meetingsProvide spiritual support and prayer to students and staff Other Duties and Responsibilities Completing other duties and tasks with utmost integrity and professionalism, as directed, and not necessarily mentioned in this description, will be expected.Commitment to the Universitys faith statement, mission, and purposes; and an active Christian faith. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables insituations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret various instructions furnishedin written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.Ability to interpretand extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with severalabstract and concrete variables.Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.) in its most difficult phases.Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables. Prerequisite Qualifications Must possess a master's or Ph.D. degree with an emphasis in Psychology, Counseling, and or Sports Psychology.At least 2 years of experience in teaching in a higher education setting.Experience with various instructional delivery systems including integration of technology into coursework.Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work both independently and as part of a team.Strong written and oral presentation skillsStrong organizational skillsEvidence of Christian commitment with interest in and ability to integrate faith and learning.
