About the Opportunity:

The Business Manager Developing & Emerging Channels is an integral member of the NZ Sales team. This Member will make a strong contribution to a high performing channel and team within KC. This role sits on the NZ Sales Leadership Team.

This role is responsible for; the development and maintenance of developing & emerging channel sales strategy, execution of initiatives as well as the direction, measurement and performance of the direct team to ensure the delivery of objectives and overall successful performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy:

  • Contributing to the development of the national category plans through active participation with cross functional teams by providing expertise regarding key customer and channel dynamics
  • Lead customer engagements understanding the shopper, customer and KC strategies
  • Training, coaching & developing a high-performing direct report
  • Lead the customisation of category plans into account-specific & channel plans.
  • Monitoring compliance to provide feedback to the Category Development team & key stakeholders as to the success or failure of strategies
  • Leading cross discipline Supply Chain, Finance, Field Operations and Marketing project teams to maximise sales opportunities and maintain optimal business relationships with customers

Financial:

  • Achieving Net Sales Value, margins and value market share targets within agreed trade spend levels for all categories.
  • Own all risks and opportunities in the channel outlook versus annual plan
  • Manage trade investment in line with customer contracts and KC internal audit requirements
  • Optimise trade investment to support core business and fuel new opportunities.

Customer/Consumer:

  • Champion a growth mindset for team and customer growth ambition. Demonstrate customer centricity to build and execute a developing & emerging channel calendar leveraging insights and scale for joint benefit with our customers.
  • Identify selling and buying trends of competitors and customers to develop tactical and strategic plans
  • Engage strongly and drive connectivity with key customers
  • Be the voice of the channel at KC and leverage strong relationships to deliver customer-centric solutions
  • Lead the team to drive and support a top tier rating across the Advantage Group Survey.
  • Champion action plans that respond to Advantage feedback and drive improvements for KC
  • Lead and support the team in presenting channel annual plans to the ANZ IPC Leadership team and subsequent quarterly check ins.

People:

  • Be a leader and role model for the KC Ways of Working across NZ teams
  • Champion the coaching and development of one direct report
  • Be responsible for the completion of Performance Plans and Development Plans, ensuring they are reviewed regularly with your direct report and line manager
  • Make an active contribution to the NZ and SLT teams’ environment, through sharing knowledge and collaborating with others to build an engaged workplace
  • Ensure commitment and clear understanding of KC policies and procedures and always adhere to them
  • Manage your team to deliver the highest levels of consistent performance, in line with KC values

About You:

  • 5+ Years of experience in selling with a length of time in managing direct reports.

  • Strong knowledge of the NZ industry, retail trade and market dynamics

  • Strong leadership, analytical and problem solving skills

  • Proven skills in developing programmes to establish procedures and organising resources to accomplish objectives

  • Established NZ national account relationships across grocery and independent channels

  • Proven skills in managing managers to build a winning culture across a large team

  • A degree in commerce/business, with an orientation in sales and/or marketing is desirable
