The salary range(s) represents our good faith estimate for the role at this time. Supervisor Day-Ahead Market Operations - Pay Range $112, 240 - $145, 810

OVERVIEW:

The Supervisor for Day-Ahead Market Operations is responsible for leading a team of Operators in the day-to-day execution of the RTO Day-Ahead Market, RTO Day-Ahead Reliability Unit Commitment (RUC), RTO Multi-Day Forecast studies, Markets+ Day-Ahead Market and Markets+ Day-Ahead RUC (RUC). This role ensures timely, accurate, and high-quality completion of all operational studies, staff development, and process management. This position manages the work to ensure deadlines are met, and a high level of accuracy is maintained.

The Supervisor of Day-Ahead Market works with multiple SPP departments and members to ensure the design, implementation, and production of these studies are timely and accurate. This position ensures that proper records of evidence are maintained for key processes and audits, and contributes to SPP committees and working groups as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Lead a department in the performance of responsibilities while establishing guidelines personnel will follow.
  • Effectively lead a team by conducting regular touch-base meetings, setting goals, managing work schedules, evaluating performance, and recommending salary increases and promotions.
  • Evaluate and select qualified candidates for open positions, and effectively develop training plans to ensure they are trained on market concepts, software, and processes.
  • Lead a team of Operators through the daily production of desk studies including but not limited to RTO Day-Ahead Market, RTO Day-Ahead Reliability Unit Commitment, RTO Multi-Day Forecast, Markets+ Day-Ahead Market and Markets+ Day-Ahead Reliability Unit Commitment.
  • Lead the development of Operators in achieving Day-Ahead Desk readiness and NERC certification.
  • Lead the cross training of Operators between RTO and Markets+.
  • Work with multiple SPP departments to provide support for market design issues related to desk studies with the Supervisor of Day-Ahead Policy and Support.
  • Stay abreast in technical skills, such as proficiency on market software, functionality, and processes to provide subject matter expertise to personnel.
  • Work with multiple SPP departments and members to resolve market issues, disputes, and inquiries, and update management on the results of relevant market analysis.
  • Maintain records of evidence and ensure that appropriate controls are in place for key processes and various audits (for example SOC1 controls and tariff reviews).
  • Participate and contribute as an SPP representative on SPP committees, working groups, and task forces.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, computer science or related field

Experience Requirements:

Six (6) years of job-related experience obtained in a responsible role related to SPP market operations OR Eight (8) years of experience in a related field OR Ten (10) years of experience in shift supervisory role

Other Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of the SPP market design
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Strong inter-personal and teaming skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Motivation to take appropriate expedited action when required
  • Ability to work with a broad spectrum of individuals with diverse interests when resolving problems
  • Understanding of, compliance with and enforcement of SPP Policies and Procedures

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree in related field of study
  • Supervisory experience
  • Advanced knowledge of the SPP market design or software
