Job Summary: Responsible for patient safety, radiation safety, and regulations, and the performance of high-quality PET studies. Job Duties / Responsibilities: Performs ordered examinations of appropriate anatomical regions in accordance with accepted standards of practice and protocols.Produces high quality diagnostic images.Explain test procedures and safety precautions to patients and provides them with assistance during test procedures.Effectively communicates with patients, co-workers, supervisors, and radiologists.Ensures that all pre-procedural preparation has been completed.Maintains patient care, comfort, and safety.Performs all procedures utilizing ionizing radiation safely and effectively in accordance with federal and state regulations and institutional policies.Maintains appropriate records of administered radioactivity, quality control procedures, patient reports, and other required records applying state and federal guidelines and institutional policies and procedures.Maintains security while storing radiopharmaceuticals and supplies in a manner consistent with the manufacturers labeled product safeguards, radiation safety considerations, and established facility policies.Provides protection for patients and self in accordance with safety standards.Dispose of radioactive materials, following radiation safety precautions.Understands PET principles.Completes the required patient questionnaire and explains the procedure to the patient.Maintains a clean working environment.Maintains patient confidentiality.Complies with all safety policies and regulations including radiation safety.Conducts daily, weekly, quarterly, and ACR yearly quality control.Reports and documents all malfunctions and/or needs for service on all equipment, including troubleshooting problems, calling for service, and communicates the problem to all pertinent team members and supervisors.Cooperates with facility healthcare professionals and complies with facility policies/procedures.Trains new employees and Nuclear Medicine students.Willing to travel to both clinics to perform duties as needed.Assists the Research Department with clinical trial scans.Maintains technical competency through continuing education.Performs other duties, as assigned by supervisor or manager.
