Direct Support Professional- St. Clair County

Description

The Direct Support Professional provides person-centered support to individuals in residential, community, or program settings to promote independence, dignity, and quality of life. This role assists with daily routines, skill development, health and safety, and community engagement based on individualized plans.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Support individuals with daily living activities, routines, and personal care as needed. Implement individualized support plans and promote person-centered goals.
• Assist with meals, housekeeping, transportation, and community participation.
• Observe and document services, progress, and incidents accurately and timely.
• Encourage skill-building, choice, and independence in daily activities.
• Maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive environment.
• Communicate observations and concerns with supervisors and team members.
• Uphold confidentiality, professional boundaries, and organizational values.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Related experience preferred but not required.
• Must be at least 21 years of age for positions requiring driving.
• Valid Alabama driver's license and insurability by the agency's insurance.
• Ability to pass pre-employment screening.
• Sign-on Bonus: $500 at 6-months and $500 at 1-year
• Must be located in the St. Clair County area.

Working Conditions

• Frequent standing and walking for extended periods; hand dexterity; reaching with hands and arms; climbing or balancing; stooping; kneeling; crouching; or crawling.
• Ability to listen to sounds both near and far.
• Occasional sitting.
• Frequent lifting and/or moving more than 100 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.
