Description

The Human Resources Assistant at The Arc of Central Alabama provides administrative support to the HR team that serves the workforce supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and their families. This role assists with HR operations, records, and employee services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide administrative support for HR functions and processes.
  • Maintain employee files, records, and documentation.
  • Assist with onboarding, orientation, and new hire paperwork. Respond to employee inquiries regarding HR policies and benefits.
  • Support data entry, reporting, and HRIS maintenance.
  • Coordinate HR communications, mailings, and scheduling.
  • Assist with compliance and audit preparation.
  • Advance The Arc's mission by supporting HR services for staff dedicated to serving individuals with IDD.


Requirements

Education:
  • Associate's degree in Human Resources or a related field preferred.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in an HR administrative role.
Knowledge/Skills:
  • Proficiency in using an HRIS (Human Resources Information System).
  • Knowledge of onboarding processes and best practices.
  • Strong understanding of employee records management principles.
  • Familiarity with benefits administration procedures.
  • Experience in supporting recruitment activities.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field.
  • HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR).
Physical Requirements/Work Conditions:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
  • Standard office environment.


Summary

As a Human Resources Assistant for our Blount County operations, you will be integral to the HR operations of the company, providing essential support to ensure efficient HR processes. You will be responsible for managing employee data, coordinating onboarding, maintaining employee records, and assisting with benefits administration. You will also support the recruitment process and utilize Microsoft Office Suite for creating documents and reports.
