Job Description Summary

Serves as a specialist and subject matter expert (SME) in specific facilities maintenance function, such as plumbing, electrical or HVAC, serving as a lead in these areas to others in the department. Ensures that areas of specialty are maintained in working order at all times, coordinating with specialized 3rd party contractors as necessary. Performs duties necessary to maintain Credit Union facilities to a standard of sustainability and a safe and secure environment for all internal and external members.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinates the installation, maintenance and repairs of building systems & equipment, within areas of specialty, such as plumbing, electrical or HVAC.

  • Performs and coordinates preventative maintenance to ensure that the condition of facilities, Credit Union vehicles, maintenance/construction equipment, and management systems are operating effectively and safely, including but not limited to; electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire alarms, carpentry, welding, diesel/natural gas generators and locksmithing.

  • Works and coordinates with Building Systems Specialist to ensure Preventative Maintenance Plans are established and adhered to.

  • Works on assigned projects, and makes appropriate decisions based on work experience.

  • Responds to maintenance emergencies, resolves problems and exchanges information on maintenance and repair status.

  • Works on other general facilities projects including changing bulbs, installing water closets, replacing water lines, installing hot water heaters and unclogging drain lines.

  • Assists with breakdown, rebuild, delivery, relocation and removal of furniture and other items throughout the Credit Union.

  • Assists Community Relations department with set-up duties for events in a timely manner.

  • Serves as a mentor to Maintenance Technicians with emphases specific to trades, expertise, safety & security.

  • Maintains current knowledge of and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, OSHA and Credit Union policies and procedures.

  • Develops teamwork and collaborative relationships within the Credit Union.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Minimum Qualifications

To perform this job satisfactorily, an employee must be able to carry out each essential duty competently. The requirements listed below are representative of the education, experience, skills and abilities required.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Education Requirements

  • Required - High School or GED

  • Required - Vocational / Technical - Relevant state certification or license in electrical, plumbing or HVAC.

  • Required - Valid US driver’s license.

  • Required - Must have a valid DOT health card or must pass a DOT physical and obtain a DOT health card within 30 days of employment.

  • Preferred - Commercial Drivers Licenses (CDL)

Experience Requirements

  • Required - 3 Years - Relevant commercial building facilities maintenance experience.

  • Required - Specialized experience in maintenance area of focus.

  • Required - Annual OSHA training on specific tools, equipment, and/or procedures included but not limited to; Forklift, Lockout/Tagout, lifting, slip trips and falls.

SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Effectively apply internal and external customer service practices and processes to meet quality service standards and achieve member satisfaction.

  • Demonstrate proper lifting and safety techniques.

  • Safe driving practices.

  • Provide guidance in the resolution of problems utilizing knowledge and experience within areas of responsibility.

  • Communicate in a professional manner and deliver information clearly and effectively. Actively listen to questions, opinions and ideas of others. Use tact and diplomacy in sensitive and confidential situations.

  • Use correct English including spelling, grammar and punctuation.

  • Operate computers and use business software and other standard office equipment.

  • Understand and follow written and oral instructions.

  • Set priorities and manage one’s own time effectively.
