Description:
Plans, organizes, evaluates and manages the work of staff within Internal Audit; utilizes resources effectively; implements plans, programs and work processes and procedures necessary to achieve designated results; coordinates and integrates functions within the department and across the Credit Union.
Responsible for establishing business and operational initiatives to meet Credit Union goals and objectives. Implements business plans and budgets for area of responsibility
Provides leadership and collaborates with managers and staff to develop and retain highly competent, service-oriented staff through training and day-to-day management practices that support the Credit Union’s mission and strategic goals.
Establishes performance requirements and objectives for staff; monitors and evaluates their performance; provides coaching and development opportunities, and finds ways to recognize performance; addresses performance deficiencies and takes disciplinary action if warranted, in accordance with Credit Union’s policies and procedures.
Ensures the application of a consistent and methodical audit approach, including key participation in the development of the audit approach, programs, and processes.
Coordinates and manage the completion of all types of approved audit activities: financial, operational, fraud and compliance audits; continuous monitoring and consulting activities; and special requests from senior management and the Supervisory Committee.
Provides independent and objective assurance and advisory services to executives, senior management and the Supervisory Committee.
Develops, plans, and executes audit programs; oversees risk-based audits and ensures compliance with departmental procedures and charter.
Supervises and conducts investigations and audits as requested by the Supervisory Committee or management.
Manages and coordinates the independent, external audit review of financial controls conducted by external auditors, NCUA and other regulators.
Ensures that audit issues are well defined, root causes are identified, and recommendations for improved internal controls and processes are communicated appropriately. As needed, provide leadership for the development and implementation of corrective action plans. Monitors action plans to ensure effective implementation and improve efficiency. Recommends closure of Management Action Plans when actions are complete and identified deficiency has been addressed.
Assists in preparing risk assessments and annual audit plans.
Provides consultative assistance to management and staff across the Credit Union.
Develops strong partner relationships with senior management across the organization, leading discussions and exercises to identify and mitigate risks in their environment
Oversees changes in regulatory practices related to Internal Audit processes and communicates information to all relevant parties.
Stays abreast of all Internal Audit industry codes and standards, as well as all applicable State, Federal and NCUA laws and regulations regarding Credit Union operations.
Finds ways to continually improve the efficiency of department processes to provide the best service to our members.
Maintains current knowledge of and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and Credit Union policies and procedures; ensures that uniform operating procedures are developed based on the level of risk for all areas of responsibility.
Promotes the Credit Union by participating in community involvement and special events.
Maintains a professional image and demeanor at all times, consistently demonstrating Credit Union RISE Values and adhering to the Code of Ethics.
Delivers friendly, caring service to internal and external members.
Complies with all applicable State, Federal and NCUA rules and regulations and all Credit Union policies and procedures.
Follow all physical and online security procedures and maintain strict confidentiality of all member information.
Completes all required regulatory and compliance training and maintains required knowledge of Credit Union products and services.
Works scheduled hours and maintains punctuality.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

4 Year / Bachelors Degree - Accounting or other related business field - Required
Professional Audit Certification for CCUIA (Certified Credit Union Internal Auditor), CFSA (Certified Financial Services Auditor), CIA (Certified Internal Auditor), CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor), CUCO (Certified Credit Union Compliance Officer). Other certifications not listed will be considered - Required
Financial Services experience - Preferred
Experience Requirement
5 Years - Progressively responsible auditing and financial operations experience - Required
3 Years - Management role in Auditing - as a Manager or Auditor in Charge - Required
Maintain active membership in The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) - Required
Effectively apply and ensure all internal and external customer service practices and processes are carried out, meet quality service standards, and achieve member satisfaction.
Learn and apply information, on a wide range of Credit Union products, services and regulatory compliance requirements, in order to assess member situations and develop solutions.
Provide guidance in the resolution of complex problems utilizing advanced knowledge and experience within areas of responsibility.
Plan, organize and direct the day-to-day activities of the department.
Lead and model RISE values and Code of Ethics through daily interactions and conduct.
Promote and foster excellent member service and teamwork throughout department.
Communicate in a professional manner and deliver information clearly and effectively to staff. Actively listen to questions, opinions and ideas of others. Use tact and diplomacy in sensitive and confidential situations.
Use correct English including spelling, grammar and punctuation.
Operate computers and use business software and other standard office equipment.
Understand and follow written and oral instructions.
Set priorities and manage one’s own time effectively. Efficiently handle changing deadlines and multiple concurrent tasks.
