Job Overview: The Distribution Superintendent will lead and oversee all distribution activities at our Theodore, AL location, ensuring products are delivered safely, efficiently, and on schedule. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role is responsible for managing a regional fleet of tractors and trailers, as well as directing a team of professional drivers and skilled mechanics. The successful candidate will foster a high-performance culture rooted in safety, regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and exceptional customer service. This position plays a critical role in optimizing logistics performance, maintaining reliable fleet operations, and supporting key business objectives through effective leadership and continuous improvement. Responsibilities: - Direct day-to-day distribution activities to ensure timely, accurate, and cost-effective delivery of products across the assigned area. - Oversee utilization, scheduling, and performance of the tractor and trailer fleet, ensuring assets are reliable, compliant, and aligned with operational demands. - Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management for both drivers and mechanics, cultivating a strong safety culture and high-performing team environment. - Enforce adherence to federal, state, and local transportation regulations, along with all company standards related to safety, environmental responsibility, and operational integrity. - Review key performance indicators, route execution, and delivery reliability to ensure operational efficiency and continuous service improvement. - Identify and execute process enhancements related to logistics planning, route optimization, equipment utilization, and cost reduction. - Partner closely with operations, maintenance, supply chain, and customer-facing teams to align distribution efforts with broader business priorities. - Coordinate with mechanics to ensure fleet equipment is properly maintained, inspected, and repaired, minimizing downtime and extending equipment life. - Collect, interpret, and report operational data to support informed decision-making, trend identification, and strategic planning. - Build and maintain strong customer relationships by ensuring dependable service delivery and promptly addressing any service-related concerns. Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or equivalent experience - Minimum of five years of experience in transportation, logistics, or distribution management - Demonstrated experience managing a fleet and directly supervising both drivers and mechanics - Strong knowledge of transportation regulations, compliance requirements, and best practices About Linde: Linde is a leading global industrial gases and engineering company with 2025 sales of $34 billion.
