Georgia-Pacific is now hiring Welder to join our Lumber facility in Talladega, AL!


Salary:

  • Our starting pay is at $27-$30/hr. depending on experience.
  • $ 5.00/hour shift premium for any hours worked Friday - Sunday (overtime rules apply).
  • You will have the ability to increase your compensation based on skills and contribution to the overall performance of the mill.

Shift:

• Shift Hours: 7: 00 a.m. - 5: 30 p.m., Wednesday - Saturday (subject to change based on needs)
  • Only candidates who are flexible and available to work any shift will be considered. This will include overtime, holidays, and weekends as needed.
  • The week of orientation will be 8: 00 a.m. to 5: 00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and you will be assigned your regular shift after your orientation.

What You Will Do

• Perform lay out, fabrication, and welding of various metals components for the installation, repair, or maintenance of components within a Manufacturing setting.

• Ability to read and understand blueprints, take measurements, and select proper materials, equipment, and tools to complete projects.

• Working with the operations and maintenance teams to identify and prioritize work schedule.

• Operate tools and equipment including angle grinders, beveling machines, cut-off grinders, hammers, torches, magnetic drills, welding machines, and a Saw-Zall.

• Adhere to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures and actively participating in the safety program.

• Communicating daily work performed and machine conditions via written and verbal documentation.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Experience in Welding and Fabrication with knowledge of various welding techniques including Tig, Mig, Arc and Oxy-Fuel Welding.

What Will Put You Ahead

• 2 or more years Welding experience utilizing the various techniques working with different metals (carbon, stainless steel, galvanized steel, etc.).

• AWS Welding certification.
