Georgia-Pacific is seeking an Engineering Leader/Portfolio Manager for our facility in Brewton, AL. The Engineering Leader will manage the Engineering Department to include (6) Project Managers and (1) Document control Specialist, while championing excellence and innovation in the execution of the Project Work Processes to drive value creation. This candidate will also manage the Capital Portfolio for the facility to include managing yearly and 5-year execution plans. This position will report directly to the Vice President at the Mill.
Our Team
The Brewton mill is located in south central Alabama about an hour from Mobile, AL, Pensacola, FL, and the beautiful beaches of the Gulf Coast. The team is made up of 450 employees who produce white top linerboard and solid bleached sulfate (SBS) paperboard. The SBS material is used to make GP's Dixie plates. White top linerboard is used in production of corrugated containers and displays. This position is an opportunity to be part of a rapidly expanding organization with tremendous growth potential. The most recent $160M capital investment is expected to be completed in late 2024. The Brewton mill was also the first fully integrated pulp and paper mill in the US to receive an Energy Star designation from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. What You Will Do
• Mentoring direct reports to ensure effective capital planning and project execution as well as process engineering excellence.
• Align all roles, responsibilities, and expectations with the Mill Vision, Safety Vision, and Reliability Vision. RREs ensure individual contributions support these visions.
• Identifying and securing the required resources to execute authorized capital, extraordinary maintenance, and minor projects for the Brewton facility.
• Encompass document control and DFR practices into Project Work Process providing a complete project venture for the customer.
• Maintain discipline advancing through Project Work Process gates to meet deliverables at each project phase.
• Maintain budgetary costing practices to properly and effectively complete projects within budget.
• Perform project lifecycle from start to finish with team approach and buy in from engineering, operations, maintenance and process control to meet project schedules
• Communicating status and progress of Brewton's capital plans both current and future with metrics reported in the proper timeframe.
• Developing a capital plan for Brewton as both capital and extraordinary maintenance projects are generated out of other work processes.
• Responding to all safety, environmental, operational and maintenance support needs.
• Developing technical resources that support current mill needs and future growth.
• Encouraging development of personal safety and compliance management philosophies.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
• 5+ years of experience in Project and/or Process Engineering in a manufacturing environment
• Experience leading engineering and/or project implementation teams
• Experience in project management from ideation through scope development as well as development of longer-range manufacturing strategies
What Will Put You Ahead
• 7+ years of experience leading capital planning and project management experience in a Pulp and Paper Manufacturing facility
• Experience leading Engineering teams
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
