Position Overview The
Warehouse Manager I is responsible for the daily operations of warehouse and equipment service teams, including inventory control, replenishment, receiving, and distribution activities. This role also ensures excellent customer service support to the sales organization and promotes operational efficiency, safety, and compliance across the facility.
Key Responsibilities - Plan and assign daily work for warehouse and field service staff; ensure tools, equipment, and resources are available and in working order, and that procedures are followed.
- Coordinate and communicate product and equipment backhauls between sales locations, the plant, and the distribution center.
- Identify and implement standardized processes to improve operational efficiency; lead continuous improvement efforts using lean tools such as 5S, Gemba walks, and "stand in the circle."
- Lead special projects to support warehouse improvement and strategic goals.
- Design and maintain optimal warehouse and storage layouts based on turnover, item size, weight, and logistical needs.
- Oversee daily transactions related to the receipt, transfer, and issuance of products, equipment, and parts; ensure quality checks for all inbound and outbound activity.
- Maintain and analyze key performance metrics; use data to drive performance in alignment with business objectives.
- Monitor and manage inventory health, including identifying and addressing non-usable, slow-moving, or excess stock.
- Review inventory reports and service level performance; recommend and implement corrective actions.
- Conduct regular planning meetings (e.g., Brew Talks) with Sales Management to review product forecasts, new accounts, equipment needs, and fulfillment gaps.
- Assist in the creation and management of the annual budget; submit monthly financial reports.
- Ensure proper security measures are in place to safeguard company assets.
- Enforce company safety policies; monitor work habits, investigate incidents, lead monthly safety meetings, and implement safety improvements.
- Schedule and perform periodic and special inventories, including cycle counts, truck inventories, and category/SKU-based audits (products, equipment, parts, POS).
- Perform root-cause analysis on inventory discrepancies and recommend actions for resolution.
- Serve as a backup to other warehouse managers and support audit and inspection readiness across locations.
- Collaborate with Sales and Planning teams to support accurate forecasting of products and equipment.
- Oversee Field Service Technician operations for the assigned location(s), ensuring service quality and timeliness.
- Stay current on FDA compliance requirements; ensure warehouse passes all regulatory inspections.
- Ensure adherence to the Master Cleaning Schedule and facility cleanliness standards.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and applicable laws in all supervisory responsibilities.
- May be asked to perform additional duties as necessary.
Position Requirements - High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in warehouse management, inventory control, distribution, and service operations.
- Valid driver's license required; Commercial Driver's License (CDL) may be required depending on assignment.
- Forklift certification required upon start date.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, technical manuals, and procedural documents; strong written communication skills for reports and correspondence.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and experience with inventory or handheld warehouse software.
- SAP S/4HANA experience is a plus.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to operate industrial equipment such as electric pallet jacks and forklifts (gas and electric).
- Successful completion of a pre-employment physical is required.
- Internal Only: Experience with Community Coffee, even if unrelated, may fulfill this requirement at the discretion of the hiring manager with approval from Human Resources.
