The Mechanical / Thermal Engineer will be responsible for CAD design of thermoplastic injection-molded enclosures (including snap analysis and design for manufacturability), sheet metal racks and shelves, die-castings, extrusions, and printed circuit board outlines (including pertinent component placements). Along with CAD design the engineer will need the ability to convey the design through 2D drafting.

Duties and Responsibilities

• CAD design of thermoplastic injection-molded enclosures (including snap analysis and design for manufacturability), sheet metal racks and shelves, die-castings, extrusions, and printed circuit board outlines (including pertinent component placements)
• Be able to convey the design through 2D drafting

Qualifications
Basic Degree Qualifications

• Mechanical Engineering Degree
• 5 to 10 years' relevant experience preferred

Experience & Skills

Thermal Analysis and Design:

• Experience designing electronics enclosures and equipment to handle increasing thermal densities
• Able to use Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Software to aid in design
• Must be familiar with both natural and forced-convection design techniques and have familiarity with choosing fans, heat sinks for demanding environments
• Must be able to perform engineering calculations to validate and optimize these designs

Telecommunications Electronic Packaging Experience:

• Must be proficient in designing enclosures for telecommunications equipment using CAD 3D modeling software
• Must be capable of performing thermal analysis using CFD software and other tools

CAD Software Experience:

• Siemens Solid Edge preferred
• Other Similar CAD software experience: PTC CREO (Pro/E), SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor

CFD Software Experience:

• Siemens FloED preferred
• Other Similar CFD software experience: Autodesk CFD, Future Facilities 6Sigma, ANSYS ICEPAK

• Experience with designing and testing products for regulatory agency compliance for telecommunications equipment. (UL 62368, Telcordia, ETSI, and ILEC-specific requirements)
• Must work with independent test labs on design to meet the compliance requirements
• Familiarity with PLM systems is a bonus (Windchill, Teamcenter, Agile, Polarion)

Compensation Range

• 90K - 140K
