The Opportunity

Our Benalla manufacturing site is located in regional Victoria, 2.5 hours north of Melbourne's CBD. This plant plays a crucial role in our operations, providing energy and automation digital solutions for efficiency and sustainability, primarily Transformers, Kiosks and Switchgear. The Benalla plant is a testament to our commitment to local manufacturing and innovation, contributing significantly to the regional economy and offering numerous job opportunities.

We are currently seeking an experienced Procurement Buyer to join our team in Benalla, Victoria. This permanent position will see you playing a key role in transforming procurement for our Benalla Plant as you play a pivotal hands-on role in sourcing, selecting and developing suppliers to achieve the best possible outcomes in terms of Price, Quality, Quality of Service and Exposure to Risk for components and raw material for both existing and new products.

This exciting new career opportunity will see you:

  • Lead supplier selection, development and performance audits
  • Own category spend analytics, APOP planning and supplier negotiations
  • Work with regional and global category teams to align and execute sourcing strategies
  • Manage RFPs, pricing agreements, forecasting, reporting and lifecycle costing
  • Achieve annual cost reductions via negotiation, benchmarking and localisation
  • Ensure material flow, mitigate risks and develop alternate sourcing strategies
  • Build long-term supplier partnerships that drive innovation and sustainability
  • Leverage digital tools to reduce non-value-added activities in procurement
  • Align with Schneider's sustainability goals through responsible sourcing


Our ideal candidate will possess:

  • Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering coupled with previous experience in a similar
  • role, ideally within a similar Manufacturing environment / organisation
  • Knowledge of Transformer components and related supply chain requirements
  • Proven technical skills in relation to Procurement, Buying and Sourcing requirements
  • Intermediate IT skills, experienced in the use of digital tools and other best practice
  • Strong data analysis, negotiation and stakeholder relationship management skills
  • Project management capabilities and demonstrated experience in partnering with both domestic
  • and international stakeholders
