We are searching for the best talent for Warehouse & Transportation Manager to be in Grecia, Costa Rica.
Purpose:
The Warehouse & Transportation Leader will drive the implementation of a new Third-Party Logistics (3PL) provider and manage ongoing warehouse and transportation operations for Johnson & Johnson MedTech's new Costa Rica facilities.
This role ensures the safe, compliant, and efficient storage, movement, and distribution of Raw Materials, Work In Progress (WIP), and Finished Goods in accordance with Free Trade Zone (FTZ) regulatory requirements and Johnson & Johnson internal standards.
The leader will foster a culture of operational excellence by applying the Johnson & Johnson Operating System (JJOS) methodology, drive continuous improvement, manage 3PL supplier performance and ensure an outstanding customer experience.
You will be responsible for:
In accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position will:
- Serve as the site leader for Costa Rica warehouse and transportation operations, providing strategic direction, operational oversight, and alignment with business objectives.
- Be the single point of contact between the 3PL and Johnson & Johnson for day-to-day operation.
- Articulate and translate business requirements into logistic requirements and manage trade-off discussions in terms of quality, service and cost with counterparts, having the customer at the center of what we do.
- Lead the onboarding and operational implementation of a 3PL provider for warehousing and intralogistics, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, quality standards, and budgetary goals through collaboration with Business Units and related functions.
- Manage the 3PL integration by partnering with Logistics PMO under a structured governance model using FPX methodology (PMP knowledge is acceptable) that includes stage-gate reviews, key objectives and proactive risk mitigation strategies.
- Implement the Johnson & Johnson Operating System (JJOS) by defining, designing and/or optimizing new processes, workflows, and layouts, conducting site reviews, and presenting improvement plans to the Leadership Team.
- Oversee daily warehouse operation and internal transportation of Raw Materials, Work in Progress (WIP), and Finished Goods. Activities under 3PL will include but not be limited to receiving, storage, picking, value added services, inventory control, dispatch and transportation activities.
- Manage 3PL performance standards by monitoring Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) ensuring consistent execution of all processes in accordance with approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions.
- Own and manage transportation and warehouse budgets, performing monthly variance analysis and identifying opportunities for cost optimization.
- Sustains the Johnson & Johnson Operating System (JJOS) methodology and governance embedding operational excellence to optimize systems and processes. Conducts periodic operational site reviews and formally presents results and improvement plans to Leadership Team.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, local and FTZ regulations as well as Company policies. Will promote a strong Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) culture by providing the necessary resources and support aligned with business needs.
- Communicate critical business issues, risks, and opportunities to management in a timely and effective manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the achievement of operational objectives.
Qualifications / Requirements:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive leadership experience in logistics, warehouse, transportation, or supply chain operations.
- Proven experience in 3PL implementation, site startups, or operational transitions.
- Fluent in English and Spanish.
- Experience working in Free Trade Zone (FTZ) environments.
Preferred
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Operations, or Supply Chain.
- Experience in regulated industries such as healthcare, medical devices, or pharmaceuticals.
Skills:
- Expertise in 3PL management, warehouse and transportation operations.
- Expertise in logistic network design.
- Strong knowledge of Inventory Management (IM), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) and Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
- Proficiency in Lean and/or Six Sigma continuous improvement methodologies.
- Strong analytical, financial, and project management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- APICS Certification.
- Lean Six Sigma Certification.
- Experience in logistics cost-to-serve and cost-to-deliver analysis.
