We are searching for the best talent for a Logistics & Warehouse Manager to be in Grecia, Costa Rica.
Purpose:
Reporting to the Senior Planning Manager, the Logistics Manager will oversee a team of warehouse supervisors, analysts, and external 3PL implants within the Orthopaedics warehouse. This key role will support the setup and operational launch of our new J& J Orthopaedics Greenfield MedTech campus manufacturing facility, located within the Costa Rica Free Zone at Evolution Grecia.
The role requires close collaboration with internal teams—including planning, quality, production, and finance—to develop and manage strategies for Raw Materials (RM), Finished Goods (FG), and Work in Progress (WIP). Additionally, the Logistics Manager will oversee J& J’s global transportation activities to Ortho site and coordinate strategies for our external warehouse partners.
Responsibilities include driving cost reduction initiatives, ensuring compliance with EHS and GMP standards, and working with the Business Excellence team to maintain high warehouse standards and site procedures. This role is essential for supporting the successful launch and ongoing operation of the facility.
The Logistics Manager will lead continuous improvement programs, set performance standards, and provide leadership and development to enable the team to meet departmental and organizational objectives.
This position plays a critical role in working with the Global Supply Chain Planning teams to assess and consolidate raw materials demand, mitigate supply risks with external suppliers and partners, and escalate significant issues to senior management to address short- and medium-term supply challenges.
Ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient storage and movement of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods—adhering to FTZ regulations and J& J standards—is fundamental to this role.
You will be responsible for:
- In accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position:
- Lead business excellence initiatives for logistics and warehouse strategies for a new greenfield campus MedTech manufacturing facility, within a free trade zone.
- Working to develop future strategies for 3PL external warehouse
- Set up the company site warehouse, including implementation of necessary equipment, ensuring delivery and installation to assist IQ PQ & OQ
- Responsible for all activities associated with Warehouse, Inventory Management, Replenishment, Warehousing, Repack and Logistics, and ad hoc where required.
- Responsible for the management of inventory associated with qualifications and production of product associated with projects.
- Leads the implementation of strategic sourcing initiatives and corporate driven goals for warehouse.
- Supports material cost reduction (COGS) initiatives and ensures appropriate plans are in place.
- Own and manage warehouse budget, and responsible for BP cycles for warehouse equipment’s and headcount
- Reduce replenishment lead-time in line with goals and business requirements
- Ensures compliance to all EHS, Business Excellence, GMP and Business requirements
- Manages incoming intercompany purchases and lead times associated with projects.
- Connects with End-to-End Planning partners to ensure seamless flow of information and fully integrated approach to delivering key metrics –Customer Service, Inventory, and Cost. Partner with Procurement to drive Supplier performance improvement
- Partner with MAKE and QUALITY, DELIVER & GTTO (Global Trade Transportation Organization) to define and implement improvement projects to drive E2E optimization.
- Develops and manages regional and global programs to deliver continuous improvement in KPI’s.
- Sets clear performance standards to hold people accountable for results, deliver customer service goals, optimize inventory investments, and meet production requirements, safety targets, and non-conformance / quality improvement goals.
- Provides clear leadership for warehouse team. Develops, coaches and guides team in the execution and realization of departmental and company goals, optimizing overall group effectiveness and business impact
- Responsible for communicating business-related issues or opportunities to next management level
- Responsible for following all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices as applicable.
- For those who supervise or manage a staff, responsible for ensuring that subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition, if applicable
- Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures
- Performs other duties assigned as needed
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree - Business, Operations, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related field.
- A minimum of 5-8 years of supply chain experience required.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and relationships effectively.
- Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in bridging technical and business subject areas, evaluating and determining appropriate risks required.
- Ability to develop, coach and lead a team in the execution, strategies and realization of departmental and company goals.
- Ability to coach & develop accountable, diverse and global leaders who inspire and motivate others.
- Ability to build strong collaborative teams and relationships, leading cross functional/ virtual teams where required.
- Ability to communicate clearly, making the complex clear and compelling to all levels of the organization in both written & oral forms.
- The ability to influence Director & VP Levels within the organization and in a matrix environment.
- Ability to drive and apply continuous process improvement tools and improvements to large and complex projects.

SKILLS:
- Fluent in English and Spanish.
- Expertise in Warehousing, 3PL management, and transportation operations (and design).
- Strong understanding of supply chain management principles and practices
- Knowledge of Free Zone regime in Costa Rica
- Strong analytical, financial, and project management skills.
- Some knowledge of operating systems such as; ERP/WMS or SAP EWM
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
