Job Description:
A fantastic opportunity to join one of the world’s largest MedTech companies and drive reputation and culture for the organization in one of the most important markets in Europe. As the Communications Director, France for J& J MedTech in Paris you will play a pivotal role in developing and driving strategic communications plans to deliver integrated initiatives aligned to the commercial priorities.
The role will suit a dynamic and engaging Communications professional who is a team player with a proven track record of successful campaign execution. This is a critical position within the French management team, and will partner closely with Business Unit Leaders, Government Affairs & Policy, Market Access and Human Resources. The role reports into the Head of Communications, EMEA for J& J MedTech in close partnership with the MD, France for J& J MedTech.
Key components of this high-profile role include:
- Develop a MedTech France communications strategy to impact and influence key external stakeholders, including patient and healthcare groups, media, think tanks, trade associations and where appropriate, hospitals and academia.
- Lead a small team to position MedTech France with all stakeholders with measurable impact, including ESG, media, public affairs approach – working across functions such as GA& P, HEMA, Regulatory and Medical Affairs to optimize results aligned to the commercial priorities of the business.
- This role will require the successful candidate to lead strategy as well as being hands on in operational execution. It is expected that the team will work on a mix of projects v owning one specific area
- Manage internal and external communications enhancing the organization's brand reputation and ensuring consistency in messaging across all channels, including support Employer brand engagement of employees
- Responsible for MedTech France digital strategy and engagement, including organizational communications, social media, crisis and issues and external relations in accordance with J& J governance processes.
- Build/implement disease awareness campaign on key diseases in partnership with Patient Advocacy groups.
- Coordinate the ESG roadmap and related communication strategy for J& J MedTech France.
- Collaborate with marketing and omnichannel teams to ensure consistent messaging, branding and business strategy and provide with an integrated, cohesive, and engaging customer experience across channels.
- Monitor key developments in external health, economic, science and innovation environment, identify the opportunities and threats to the business and develop appropriate public affairs plans to compliantly engage and strengthen the company’s reputation, positioning and approach.
- Maintain highly effective external networks with key business influencers to shape industry agenda and build reputation via the appropriate communication channels.
Additional components of the role:
- Work with all levels of J& J to develop and convey MedTech positioning and reputation issues in France.
- Raise the profile and reputation of MedTech France to positively position the company and create an understanding of the company's impact on the communities we serve and the healthcare environment.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient French with strong written and oral English
- Proven experience (10 years) in a senior corporate or communications role, preferably in a similar industry or organization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
- Degree-level, strategic problem solver with the ability to translate business and Public Affairs objectives into effective CPA strategies.
- Demonstrated proficiency in media relations, crisis management, social media campaigns, corporate activism and stakeholder engagement.
- In-depth knowledge of the national healthcare industry, ideally gained through at least 6 years of work experience in the industry, consultancy, trade association or public affairs function in a corporation.
- Ability to thrive in a constantly evolving matrix organization and to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Good understanding of the healthcare sector and able to translate public policy into a strategic action plan, preferably with MedTech experience.
- Interest in health, MedTech; pharmaceuticals, passion to work in the healthcare sector.
- An ability to take initiative and anticipate emerging issues of importance to the company and the sector, and to prioritize appropriately.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, excellent leadership and influencing skills.
- Proven collaboration and cross-functional team working
