Job Description:

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is recruiting for a Business Unit Manager based in Algiers, Algeria.

Summary of the job:

  • Maintains full responsibility for all commercial activities for the relative Therapeutic Area, including sales, commercial and budgeting
  • Build and lead the TA commercial operations and drive the achievement of market objectives
  • Provides strategy & franchise management with focus on business planning and excellence in implementation and execution

  • Build & delivery BP & LRFP
  • Manage Opex on TA

Duties & Responsibilities

Business Performance

  • Deliver performance by increasing the volume, value and profitability growth in accordance with set goals and strategies
  • Develop realistic and achievable monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and volume objectives
  • Allocate budget in proportion to impact on sales to optimize product profit contribution
  • Define, develop and implement short and long term Business plans
  • Ensure implementation of Product priorities and closely manage the Business Unit product portfolio in line with country priorities and regional strategies per Therapeutic Areas
  • Ensures proper definition and implementation of the commercial, and sales plans by maximizing sales force measures as the best in relation to industry trends
  • Creates sales projections and sets objectives: ensure optimal coordination within the Business Unit across sales, commercial and outside the Business Unit with other departments
  • Ensure effective allocation of resources in line with Company strategy and priorities. Constructs and administers budget among Therapeutic Areas
  • Monitor market trends, sales & market share performance, and take corrective actions as required
  • Identify and exploit new business opportunities
  • Direct / monitor the organization of all pre-launch / launch activities for new products within the unit
  • Prepare commercial plan to include strategies, situation analysis, action plans, expenses and sales forecast with corresponding assumptions in accordance with the planning cycle
  • In conjunction with policy guidelines create incentive programs to meet the sales targets
  • Develop and execute contingency plans necessary to meet changes in the environment
  • Develop strategies regarding products, price, promotion and distribution

Coordination and Communication

  • Routinely employ visits with an ever-broadening base of sales force and external stakeholders to enhance market knowledge 30%
  • Promote and build strong local KOL in critical areas in partnership with other departments
  • Coordinate implementation of strategies and tactical plans in line with country and Therapeutic Areas strategies
  • Must have “team” approach and work as a “teammate” with other Company Units and other departments, at country and regional levels
  • Country Value Team Leader (CVTL) in cross TA & implement NBEMA hub mindset
  • Ensure alignment of strategy operations with other departments
  • Demonstrates strong skills working with Parent Company and international stakeholders

Main performance measures (Performance Goals)

  • Lead, motivate and develop the correspondence team to deliver required performance according to the pre settled company strategic objectives
  • Create harmonious working environment, train and mentor staff and motivate all team members to perform efficiently
  • Distribute & Forecast sales Target per Therapeutic Area and per region according to the pre settled sales plan
  • Control Budget/Activities
  • Ensure proper targeting and selection process for concerned customers
  • Coach and manage performance appraisal of Sales Managers and Medical Representatives
  • Provide/resources training provision to meet development needs of line report/s
  • Create a working environment within the Business unit to foster new leadership imperatives and have open communication, a sense of urgency, high standards and compliance with all relevant regulations
  • Conduct recruitment interviews/assessment as required
  • Check that all direct reports have completed required compliance trainings including HCC, Drug Safety & product quality complaints within the guidelines set in the SOP’s for new starters and annually thereafter
  • Set up KPIs to appraise staff’s performance in line with Company policies

Experience Required

  • University/Bachelors Degree/MBA or Equivalent in (Medicine- Dentistry-Veterinary- Pharmacy)
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in pharmaceuticals
  • At least 3 years of people management experience
  • Analytics acumen
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups
  • English & French (spoken & written)

Technical/Functional Skills Required

  • Strategic thinker, bringing market facing ideas and strategies, new service delivery methodologies, and expertise to decision-making and strategic planning
  • Solid progressive experience within the healthcare industry with in-depth knowledge of hospital pharmaceutical market
  • Demonstrated business management and resource allocation skills including business plan development
  • Exemplary people management, leadership skills, as well as sales coaching & team building

  • Be able to understand and anticipate the market and able to build strong winning strategies in the different channels: Hospital, Retail, Institution, Government business, etc.
  • Business acumen; financial and organizational skills
