Role reports to: Brand Manager

Location: Chiyoda

What you will do

Working within the brand management team, this role will be responsible for leading the Baby portfolio in Japan, as a critical core team member. This role will individually lead key projects to ensure the successful delivery of business targets and establish our brand equity with consumers, through a deep understanding of our consumer base and brand strategy. This role will collaborate closely with the cross-functional team to drive excellence in execution, as well as partnering with the Regional Deployment team to deliver the global strategy. This will include influencing the innovation and communication pipeline to future proof our baby business, assessing new product and brand launches. Along with managing our iconic Johnson's Baby brand, this role will have a heavy focus on disruptive future innovation and influencer marketing:

Key Responsibilities

Brand Management

• Brand strategy development & execution

Drive growth of Baby in Japan, leading the delivery of the in-year P& L and share targets.

Shape and lead the business growth strategy, working closely with the Regional Deployment team and gaining cross-functional alignment to develop innovative business plans.

Develop the longer term 2-3yr growth plan including brand evolution and innovation strategy.

Collaborate with local sales strategy and sales teams to address challenges and drive opportunities to unlock category growth.

• Innovation planning

Shape and influence the 3yr innovation pipeline for Japan, using analytical skills to size commercial and innovation opportunities.

Lead innovation launches with success ensuring flawless execution and high impact in market, including post-launch performance tracking.

Lead the launch of a disruptive new innovation with a focus on ECommerce.

• Research & analysis

Analyze key performance indicators and financial reports such as brand sales and offtake, to report on brand health.

Conduct market research to identify new opportunity areas and assess the size of prize.

• Communication planning & execution

Develop campaign briefs, eco-systems, consumer advertising, and marketing programs via systematic assessment of market trends, unmet consumer needs, and competitive activity.

Design advanced communication and media plan, based on consumer insight and media behaviors.

Flawless execution of marketing campaigns, driving excellence in execution.

In-depth knowledge of influencer marketing, to secure consistent, regular and quality brand communication and advocacy, in a cost-efficient way.

Evaluate effectiveness of marketing tactics and return on investment to identify and provide input on areas for improvement.

• Key brand index management

Manage and report on Brand Marketing Expenditure (BME).

Sales & forecast planning with Demand Planning team.

What we are looking for

Related Experience
  • Bachelor's degree and above
  • Seasoned marketeer with 5 years of FMCG brand management experience and a strong track record of performance
  • Experience developing and activating communication plans, including media strategy and deployment, influencer marketing, data driven marketing and a deep understanding of customer and retailer requirements, including strong ECommerce knowledge
  • Proven experience successfully delivering new innovation launches (within ECommerce is a plus)

  • Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative style, with the ability to influence and communicate effectively with stakeholders both internally and externally

  • Strong analytical, financial, and business acumen skills
  • Ability to speak and write in Japanese (fluent) and English (business level)
