The Originating Mail Supervisor is an integral part of the management team responsible for leading, directing and coordinating the efforts of S-Net Originating mail operations to ensure successful processing of services in a manner consistent with best industry standards, contractual commitments, Company Standard Operating Procedures, and Company Health Safety and Environmental standards. Works cohesively with fellow leadership; motivates & develops team members; and holds staff to set expectations. Accountable for ensuring employee safety and quality of work are maintained consistently; communicates all issues/discrepancies/abnormalities to the General Manager. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating the activities of assigned personnel to meet established service delivery tasks, timelines and customer expectations by utilizing and understanding the relationships and dependencies between parts of the organization and available customer resources. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Manages 10-15 hourly mail handling operation employees; including tractor-trailer drivers, team leaders, and mail handlers. Responsible for the daily coordination of operational logistics and supervision of employees; to ensure: The protection & safeguard of personnel, US Mail, and property; in that order. Mail volume is loaded and dispatched to the correct ULD assignments/destinations. ULD density & utilization goals are optimized by following plan, process & proper technique. Tender deadlines are met consistently by ensuring the timely build & dispatch of mail volumes. Communication & relations are maintained with local FedEx and USPS contacts. Operational reports are submitted timely, accurately, and in accordance with the customer's request. Labor Productivity goals are met on a weekly basis. Operational support functions are performed as necessary or assigned. Carries out supervisory/managerial responsibilities in accordance with the Company's EEOC and Anti-Harassment and Discrimination policies; including hiring; training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; and appraising performance. Requirements GENERAL HIRING REQUIREMENTS Stringent Background check, pre-employment D&A screen, and legal US work status required. Minimum five-year US residency required. Must meet Selective Service requirements (see www.sss.gov). Must have reliable transportation to get to and from work. Must be available to work the hours needed for the position to ensure completion of daily operations. Unhindered availability: Tuesday - Sunday 00: 00 - 09: 00. Must be responsible, reliable, fair and professional; setting a good example for others to follow. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak and understand English to communicate effectively with a diverse group of employees, supervisors and customers. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply critical and analytical thinking. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to prioritize tasks and objectives through effective time management. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form. All mail processing is conducted within the secure confines of a 30, 000-sq.ft. warehouse. While work is primarily performed indoors, the employee is subject to all weather conditions and should therefore dress appropriately. Operational times are subject to variation in the event of fluctuating volume or transportation delays. The employee will frequently navigate through changing floor plans based on daily equipment stockpiles & inventory. The employee may regularly traverse over roller-deck and slave-pallet surfaces. The employee will likely perform job functions inside ULDs (air containers). Determined by assignment, the employee may regularly or occasionally perform job functions inside docked semi-trailers & box truck beds. All mail transportation performed by our employed tractor-trailer drivers is local; consisting of shuttle runs between our facility and street-side cargo houses at the airport.
